Kyoto and the Butterflies

(Kyoto och fjärilarna)

An environmental research station on Svalbard and an aluminum melting plant in Siberia - between these two icy poles a red hot game involving emission rights, greenhouse gases and international business is being played.

Inexperienced research student Kimi from Gothenburg has gone to Svalbard to participate in a research project. Activists from the international environmental organisation Serve Earth are arriving to meet with Kimi’s supervisor. But the professor has disappeared without trace, and Kimi quickly decides to join in the dangerous hunt for environmental criminals.

In Siberia, a Russian industrial magnate is monitoring their every move. His and his family’s future depend on Serve Earth’s measurements failing. There are hopes for his company’s introduction on the London Stock Exchange, and he is looking forward to a carefree life on the Riviera, far away from the frozen tundra.

Kimi’s quiet research project ends in a desperate hunt for the truth through the icy Svalbard landscape, shiny conference rooms and deep into the heart of Russian industry.

Sometimes your hands get dirty when you're fighting for a cleaner world.
