THE TEARS OF INEZ
Inez tårar

Susanna, the beautiful Danish girl with golden brown hair and a scar in her neck, falls passionately in love with the beautiful Manuel during a vacation in Portugal. She marries him after a short period of time and he brings her to the family manor in southern Portugal where they are going to live together with his mother and siblings.

The manor has a dark atmosphere of middle age and Manuel is always busy with his many duties. But why does his elder brother cry when he sees Susanna? And why isn’t she allowed to be photographed in her wedding dress? And the legend about the good, Spanish woman Inez, who married the Portuguese crown prince and who then got killed, what has that to do with it all?

An obscure history, legends and lies are mixed in a way that Susanna cannot see through – and maybe the legends are more real than reality.

The author Vibeke Marx manages to keep the reader in constant doubt. Does Susanna have visions? Is she exaggerating? Is she only spoilt and full of prejudices? Is it only a clash between two cultures? Or is Manuel in reality a horrible calculating robot, driven by an old fascist family, whose main concern is their reputation? If you want to find the answer to this dilemma, you should read The tears of Inez and accept that you will bite your nails down to the roots.
Femina

Vibeke Marx has in her new novel, The tears of Inez, written a really entertaining thriller, totally in today’s trend with religious insanity and occult rituals.
Alt for Damerne

Vibeke Marx’s novel The tears of Inez brings us to the genre where Daphne du Maurier is queen and her Rebecca from 1938 is the bible...But Marx modernizes the concept in an excellent and convincing way...The tears of Inez is an entertaining and thrilling neo-gothic “chick lit”.
Bo Tao Michaelis, Politiken

In The tears of Inez, Vibeke Marx has created a strong erotic thriller with roots in the Gothic style and the middle-age... Vibeke Marx has joined the conspiracies with a sure sense of style and charged them with emotions to such an extent that one completely abandons oneself to the hyper ventilating demonic plot.
