“DADDY DAYS” IN THE YEAR OF THE RAT
Pappadagar i råttans år
Alexander is 33 years old, he has no apartment, no real job and is recently divorced. He is also the father of two lovely sons aged three and four that he loves more than anything else.
He and his ex-wife take care of their sons one week each and when it’s Alexander who is going to leave his kids at the day-care for his ex-wife to take over, he is about to break down. Normally the teachers at the day-care have to distract and comfort the kids when the parents leave them. When it comes to Alexander, the teachers just try to get him away before he starts crying in front of his two happy boys.....
We follow Alexander as he slowly and stubbornly fights to get a normal life again for him and the boys. He gets an apartment with an almost non-functioning toilet, he looses his job and gets another one. Some of the mummies at the day-care show interest in him, the man who is just as involved in his kids as they are theirs (in contrast to the other fathers) Alexander isn’t really sure about his feelings though the only thing he knows is that he loves his boys and wants to do everything to make them feel good. But maybe, maybe will he be able to meet love again...
With lots of heart, humour and self-irony, Alexander describes his life as a modern and loving single father trying to get his world together. This is a warm story about a man that many women would like to see more of also in the real world.
“Daddy days” in the year of the rat will be published by Wahlström & Widstrand in spring 2007. Rights sold to: Denmark, (Bazar), Norway (Bazar).
