Bonita is 57 years old and still living with her senile mother in their big villa in Ystad, a small town in the south of Sweden. She never really met any men in her youth and now she feels old and tired.

Bonita's best friend and neighbour Doris got married in her twenties and moved from Ystad. Thirty years later the uninspiring marriage is over, and when Doris' parents die, she decides to move back to her childhood home next to Bonita.

Doris has always been the elegant one with her red nails and beautiful shoes. Bonita, on the other hand, is clumsy and shy with no experience of the “big world”. But when Doris comes home, their old friendship is soon rekindled, and when Doris finds out that the company she is working for is involved in strange activities, she starts making wild and fantastic plans. Soon their houses are filled with women in need and Doris’ employees get more and more nervous.
